Western New York Outdoors
A Parks and Recreation Guide to locations for outdoor adventures in WNY.

Jersey Hill
State Forest in the Town of Birdsall, Allegany County.

Western New York Outdoors home

Description:

This is a very remote and undeveloped forest area.  You can access by a gravel truck trail, Scholes Forest Road off Jersey Hill Road, just south of York Street.  Look for the NYS DEC sign.  The trail takes you thru a heavily wooded and managed forest.

Further south down Jersey Hill and west on Davison Road, where there once was a Lookout Tower, there is a small parking and picnic area where you can wilderness camp.  In the winter the red highlighted trails, on map below, are used as snowmobile trails.  Elevation 2250'.

Continuing southeast to Route 2A or traveling east on Davison Road takes you to Karr Valley Creek State Forest.
