Keeney Swamp
State Forest and Wildlife Management Area in the Town of Birdsall, Allegany County.

Western New York Outdoors home

Description:

A huge nature wetland area with swamps, ponds, creeks and trails for hunting and fishing.  Located southwest of the village of Canaseraga bordering Jersey Hill (Rt. 15B) and Fink Hollow Roads (Rt. 15A).  Over 3,100 acres of state forest and WMA.

There is great opportunity for bird watching and viewing other wildlife in the vast acreage of forests, fields, marshes and streams.   The head waters of Black Creek flow thru the WMA, there is fishing access along Rt. 16 near the two bridges.  There are many scenic views in these very remote areas for hiking, camping, hunting and fishing.  Look for several parking areas on the perimeter to begin your visit.

Other Nearby state forest lands in the Town of Birdsall:
Hiltonville, Gas Springs, Gillies Hill, Klipnocky, Jersey Hill.
